31st Mary 2026 | After the 4pm serviceAPCM Meeting
What is the APCM?
Who can attend, vote, and stand?
What happens at the meeting?
What is the Electoral Roll?
The Annual Parochial Church Meeting — or APCM — is our church's official yearly gathering. It is a legal requirement for every Church of England parish and it belongs to everyone who is part of Saint Benedict's.
Think of it as our church's AGM. It is the moment we come together as a community to look back at the year, hear how the church is doing, approve our accounts, and choose the people who will help lead and govern Saint Benedict's in the year ahead.
Attending the APCM
All lay people on the Electoral Roll have the right to attend the APCM and take part in its proceedings. Others may be invited to attend at the discretion of the meeting.
Attending the Churchwarden election (Meeting of Parishioners)
This is a separate meeting held just before the APCM. Anyone on the Electoral Roll or anyone on the local government electoral register who lives in the parish is entitled to attend and vote in the Churchwarden election.
Voting in elections at the APCM
Only lay people whose names are on the Electoral Roll are entitled to vote in elections of parochial representatives of the laity.
Standing for election to the PCC or Deanery Synod
To stand for election you must meet all of the following:
Your name must be on the Electoral Roll
Unless you are under 18, your name must have been on the Electoral Roll for at least the preceding six months
You must be an actual communicant — meaning you have received Communion at least three times in the past twelve months
You must be at least 16 years of age
You must not be disqualified under charity trustee or safeguarding rules
Please note: because Saint Benedict's is a new church, people joining the Electoral Roll now will not have been on it for six months by 31st May. This means they will be able to attend and vote, but may not be eligible to stand for election. Please speak to Revd David if you have questions about this.
❋ ElectionsWe elect churchwardens, PCC members, and Deanery Synod representatives — the people who help run and represent our church.
❋ Annual reportWe hear a report on everything that has happened at Saint Benedict's over the past year — our ministry, mission and community life.
❋ FinancesWe review and approve the church's financial accounts so everyone can see how money has been received and spent.❋ Aks a questionAny member on the Electoral Roll can attend, if you have any questions please do email admin@saintbenedicts.church by the 27th May 2026
The Electoral Roll is the official register of members of Saint Benedict's. Being on it means you are recognised as part of our church community. It is not a heavy commitment but it is a meaningful way of saying "I belong here." If you would like to join, please click this LINK and fill out the Form 1, by the 17th May 2026.
